Your website should reflect who you actually are

Joontide builds fast, low-carbon, WCAG 2.2 AA accessible websites for B Corps and ethical brands. Every project ships with published Lighthouse scores and carbon ratings. One person, start to finish.

Every Joontide site ships with data like this, published and verifiable.

  • 100 Pagespeed Insights performance score

  • <1MB target for every page

  • A+ carbon rating target for every build

  • AA minimum WCAG compliance

When did you last feel proud sharing your URL?

Most ethical founders have spent years aligning their supply chain, their hiring, their operations. Then someone asks for the website link and the apology comes out before the URL does.

You're on bloated WordPress hosting with a carbon footprint you've never measured. The agency who built it hasn't responded in months. Your Core Web Vitals are a mess.

The gap between what your business stands for and what your website communicates is visible to every potential client, investor, and partner who visits it. That matters.

Sound familiar?

"The website needs updating" is your opener

You pre-apologise before sharing the link. You send people to LinkedIn instead.

Your site is slow and you know it

Sluggish load times, poor bounce rate, and someone's told you Google rankings are suffering.

The agency said all the right things

Then delivered something generic, unmaintainable, and disappeared after launch.

Here's what makes Joontide different

Not different in the vague, everyone-says-it way. Different in the provable, here-are-the-numbers way.

  1. Real data, not vague claims

Every project ships with published Lighthouse scores, carbon ratings, and page weight data. Not "lightweight code". Actual numbers, in public, on every case study.

  2. One person, start to finish

The person on the intro call is the person writing the code, doing the QA, and handing over the keys. No account manager. No handoff. No "the developer will handle that."

  3. A stack built for performance, not familiarity

Astro's static-first architecture, Sanity CMS, Cloudflare hosting. Chosen because they produce measurably faster, lower-carbon sites, not because every other agency uses them.

  4. WCAG 2.2 AA as standard

Not an optional add-on. An ethical brand whose website excludes users with disabilities has a values gap that's visible to anyone who looks. AA is the legal standard - Joontide meets it on every build, and pushes toward AAA where the project allows.

  5. Transparent pricing from the start

Starting prices are published. No discovery calls required just to understand whether this is in budget. No scope creep, no hidden costs.

  6. Built to last, not just to launch

15+ years building websites. Past clients include Netflix, Sky, Canon, and Historic Royal Palaces. The craft shows in decisions made before a single line of code is written.

What Joontide builds

A freelancer who gives a damn

Headshot of Joe Diton

I'm Joe. I've been building websites for 15+ years for Netflix, Sky, Canon, Historic Royal Palaces, and plenty of other household brands.

For most of that time, I was building for clients who didn't share my priorities. Accessibility and sustainability were always my concern, never theirs. The brief was always aesthetics first, performance an afterthought, and anything green or inclusive? Not on the agenda.

Joontide is what I built when I stopped compromising on that. It's a practice built around doing this work for brands who already care about the same things I do - B Corps, ethical commerce brands, and purpose-led agencies who want performance and sustainability baked in from the start, not bolted on at the end.

I don't subcontract. I don't hand off. Every site is built by me, which means you always know exactly who's responsible for it.

Common questions

A few things people ask before getting in touch.

What makes a website low-carbon?

A low-carbon website transfers as little data as possible on each page load, is hosted on renewable energy infrastructure, and avoids resource-heavy JavaScript frameworks that force the browser to do unnecessary work. Joontide builds on Astro's static-first architecture and hosts on Cloudflare's green infrastructure - both choices that produce measurably lower carbon output than a typical WordPress site.

Is a freelance web designer better than an agency for my ethical brand?

For a values-led founder who wants a genuine relationship with the person building their site, a specialist freelancer is often the stronger choice. With an agency, the person who pitches your project is rarely the person who builds it. With Joontide, there's one person involved from brief to launch, which means full accountability, clearer communication, and no cost markup for account management overhead.

How much does a sustainable website cost in the UK?

Joontide's brochure sites start from £3,000, content-driven sites from £5,000, and ecommerce sites from £8,000. Transparent pricing is important here - these are real starting points, not teaser figures. What you pay covers strategy, design, build, and handover. There's a full pricing breakdown on the pricing page.

Does my B Corp certification require a sustainable website?

B Corp certification doesn't currently mandate a specific website carbon score, but your digital operations are part of your environmental impact assessment. More importantly, a website that contradicts your stated values - high carbon, poor accessibility, built on bloated infrastructure - is a visible gap that stakeholders, partners, and customers will notice.

What is WCAG 2.2 accessibility and do I need it?

AA is the current legal standard in the UK. Joontide meets WCAG 2.2 AA on every build as a minimum - not as an optional extra - because an ethical brand whose website excludes users with disabilities has a values gap that undermines everything else they stand for. Where a project allows, we push further toward AAA.
