Websites for ethical brands who've been let down before

Every service Joontide offers is built on the same foundation: Astro's static-first architecture, Sanity's content management, and Cloudflare hosting. That stack is the reason every site ships fast, low-carbon, and WCAG 2.2 AA accessible - not as extras, but as standard.

One person from brief to launch. No handoffs, no mystery. The person you speak to is the person writing your code.

Need a new site built from scratch?

Three ways in, depending on what your business needs. All three include strategy, design, and build. All three ship with published performance data.

  • Brochure site

A site that works hard without the complexity

Fast, accessible, and low-carbon. For small businesses and ethical brands who need a credible web presence that doesn't embarrass them when they share the URL. Built on Astro's static architecture - no database, no bloat, no WordPress.

    Ideal for:

    • Plus icon Service businesses
    • Plus icon sole traders
    • Plus icon B Corp startups
    • Plus icon brands launching a new identity

    From £3,000

  • Content-driven site

For brands that publish regularly and want to grow over time

Everything in the brochure site, plus a full Sanity CMS setup so you can publish blog posts, case studies, and resources yourself. Built to attract organic traffic without piling on the carbon. You get the editor training too.

    Ideal for:

    • Plus icon B Corps
    • Plus icon Ethical brands, and agencies that blog, publish, or produce regular content as part of their marketing.

    From £5,000

  • Ecommerce site

A sustainable storefront that actually performs

Astro's static power connected to Shopify's commerce backbone via the Storefront API. Faster than any standard Shopify theme, lower carbon, and fully under your control. Built for ethical commerce brands who've outgrown what a template can do.

    Ideal for:

    • Plus icon Ethical commerce brands
    • Plus icon B Corps selling online
    • Plus icon Businesses running standard Shopify themes that are slow and hard to update.

    From £8,000

Already have a designer? Need a technical partner?

These are for agencies and designers who need a developer who knows this stack and won't need hand-holding. You supply the designs. Joontide builds the site.

  • Build only content site

Astro + Sanity build from supplied designs

No strategy, no design, no SEO. You hand over production-ready designs and I build them out. Clean, standards-compliant Astro and Sanity code with TypeScript throughout. Includes a Sanity CMS setup your client can manage independently.

    From £3,000

  • Build only ecommerce

Headless Shopify build from supplied designs

Astro + Sanity connected to the Shopify Storefront API - built to spec from your designs. No strategy or SEO included. For agencies who have clients on standard Shopify and want to offer a genuinely performance-first headless build instead.

    From £5,000

What happens after launch?

The agency that disappeared after go-live is one of the most common complaints in this industry. Both maintenance plans keep Joontide in the picture - the same person who built it, maintaining it. For sites built by Joontide only.

  • Editor plan

Keep your content fresh, without the headache

Regular content edits: text, images, updates to existing pages, carried out for you each month. Existing pages only, new pages aren't included. Ideal if your site doesn't change that often and you just want someone reliable to make updates when you need them.

    Includes:

    • Plus icon Unlimited content edits to existing pages
    • Plus icon Unlimited Image and asset swaps
    • Plus icon Security and dependency updates
    • Plus icon Monthly performance check

    £150/month

  • Creator plan

    Full content freedom, every month

Everything in the Editor plan, plus new pages, new sections, and ongoing content development. For brands that are growing, publishing regularly, or building out their site over time rather than all at once.

Everything in the Editor plan, plus:

    • Plus icon Up to 3 new pages a month
    • Plus icon Monthly performance and carbon check
    • Plus icon Priority response

    £400/month

Why the stack matters

Every competitor in this space says "lightweight code" and "eco-conscious design." None of them explain what they actually build with or why those choices produce lower-carbon output. Here's how Joontide works, and the reasoning behind each choice.

The short version: Astro ships mostly HTML. WordPress ships a lot of JavaScript. HTML is cheaper, faster, and far less carbon-intensive to send down the wire. That's not a marketing claim, it's how browsers work.

Astro

Static-first framework. Ships zero JavaScript by default, only sends interactivity where it's genuinely needed. The single biggest reason these sites are fast and low-carbon.

Sanity CMS

Headless content management. You edit in a clean, intuitive interface. The site stays static and fast, no CMS overhead on the front end.

Shopify Storefront API

For ecommerce builds. Shopify handles the commerce layer; Astro handles the front end. Result: a faster, lower-carbon storefront than any standard Shopify theme can deliver.

Cloudflare hosting

Served from Cloudflare's global edge network, powered by renewable energy. Your site is fast everywhere, with a hosting footprint to match your values.

What every full project includes

These aren't add-ons you pay extra for. They're how Joontide builds, on every project, without exception.

WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility

AA is the legal standard in the UK and the minimum on every Joontide build. An ethical brand whose site excludes users with disabilities has a values gap that's visible to anyone who looks.

Published performance data

Lighthouse scores, carbon rating, and page weight are published with every project. You can verify every claim.

SEO foundations

Semantic HTML, schema markup, metadata, sitemaps, and robots.txt - all done properly at build, not bolted on later.

GDPR compliance

Cookie management, privacy policy, and consent flows handled correctly from day one. Not an afterthought.

Sanity CMS training

You'll be comfortable updating your site yourself before handover. No dependency on Joontide for everyday content changes.

Cloudflare deployment

Production site on Cloudflare's global edge network. Staging on Vercel. Fast everywhere, backed up, and ready for traffic from day one.

Common questions

What makes a website low-carbon?

A low-carbon website sends as little data as possible to the browser, runs on renewable-energy hosting, and avoids unnecessary JavaScript. Joontide builds with Astro, which ships zero JavaScript by default and generates static HTML, dramatically reducing the energy needed to serve each page compared to WordPress or similar platforms.

Is a freelancer better than an agency for an ethical brand?

For many values-led founders, yes. With Joontide, the person you speak to in the intro call is the person writing the code - no handoffs, no account managers in the middle, no junior developer doing the work after a senior pitched it. Agencies are slower, more expensive, and often less specialist. Joontide does one thing and does it properly.

Do you only work with B Corps?

No, B Corp certification isn't a requirement. Joontide works with ethical commerce brands, purpose-led businesses, and agencies that share the same values, whether or not they're formally certified. If sustainability and performance matter to your business, you'll be a good fit.

What does WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility mean?

WCAG 2.2 AA is the current legal standard for web accessibility in the UK - covering colour contrast, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, and more. It means your site works for users with visual, motor, cognitive, and hearing impairments. Joontide meets AA on every project as a minimum, not as an optional extra.

How long does a project take?

A brochure site typically takes 4–8 weeks from kick-off to launch. A content-driven site is 6–10 weeks. Ecommerce projects are usually 12–16 weeks depending on the scope of the Shopify integration. Timelines are confirmed in the proposal stage, there are no vague open-ended estimates.
